Import leads from a CSV or Excel file
Open the menu on the Leads page and choose Import CSV. Upload your file, match each column to a Pipelio field, optionally pick a list, choose where the leads go, then review and import.
Before you start
Accepted files: .csv, .tsv, .txt, .xlsx and .xls. For Excel files, only the first sheet is imported.
Up to 5,000 rows and 20 MB per file. Split anything larger into several files.
Each row needs a name or an address. Rows with neither are skipped.
Give each column a clear header, such as "First Name", "Phone", "City". Pipelio uses headers to match columns for you.
Import your file
Go to Leads, open the menu at the top right (More actions), and choose Import CSV.
On an empty Leads page, choose Import CSV directly.
Upload. Drag your file into the window, or choose it from your computer.
Match columns. Pipelio guesses a Pipelio field for each column. Check each one and change any that are wrong.
Columns left unmatched are not imported.
Each Pipelio field can be used by only one column, except Additional phone (callable), which you can use for as many phone columns as you have.
For a column with no matching field, choose Custom field… and pick an existing custom field or Create a new custom field.
Choose list. Add to a list (optional). General list is selected by default. You can pick another saved list or create one with Add saved list.
Destination. Answer Where should these leads go?
Keep in Leads intake imports the leads without putting them on a pipeline yet.
Add to a pipeline puts them on a pipeline. Pick a starting stage, choose No stage yet, or choose Use the Stage column to use a stage column from your file.
Review. Check the summary, including how many rows Will skip (no name or address), then start the import.
Phone numbers and addresses
These two cause most import questions:
More than one phone number per lead: see Import leads with more than one phone number.
City, state or ZIP missing after import: see City, state or ZIP is missing after an import.
When the import finishes
Leads that matched someone already in your CRM are reused, not copied. Their details are left as they were and any new phone numbers are added. See Duplicates, partial imports and importing again.
Imported, with one thing to check means the leads were imported but something needs a look, for example Some phone numbers weren't saved.
Import failed. Nothing was saved. means no leads were created. It is safe to fix the file and try again.
If an import stops partway and some leads were saved, do not simply import the same file again. Read Duplicates, partial imports and importing again first.

In Pipelio, open Support at the bottom of the left sidebar and send a message. Workspace admins can message support directly; other teammates should ask their admin. Include what you clicked, what you expected, and the exact words of any message you saw.
